Roots Action and Progressive Democrats of America

We have partnered on a petition
calling upon the DNC to convene an emergency meeting. Sign the petition here.

Here's the full text of the petition to the Democratic National Committee (DNC):

The Democratic Party has failed to confront the urgency of this perilous moment for the future of the United States, as reflected in recent public opinion polls. For the sake of the future, we insist that the Democratic National Committee should convene an emergency meeting of all its members – fully open to the public – as soon as possible. Waiting until the next regular meeting in late summer would be irresponsible and unacceptable.

Useful tools to make resistance easy

5Calls makes it easy to call our elected federal officials. You can go to their website - 5calls.org - or there's a phone app you can download.

Plug in your ZIP Code, and it will identify your elected officials. Then choose from 5Calls' list of issues - currently 52 of them. You'll get a script you can read over the phone about your chosen issue. What you say is not really important as long as you identify yourself as a constituent, identify the issue, and tell them how you want them to vote. Their offices tally the calls for and against. You can select which elected officials to send it to. Remember, even those supporting your stance can use some reinforcement for their position. If you're uncomfortable talking to an office staffer, call at night and leave a voicemail message. It will be tallied just the same. Go to 5calls.org or download the app to get started.

resist.bot

Resistbot makes it easy to send petitions and physical letters to your district's elected officials. Go to their website - - or there's a phone app you can download.  (It used to send faxes, which many people selected. We could envision the fax machines spewing out sheet after sheet of paper. Not so eco-friendly but undoubtedly annoying!  )
Resistbot can send to federal and state elected officials, plus the Supreme Court.  You can choose from their list of issues and petitions. AI is available to help you write a letter. The website or app will walk you through the process. Like 5calls, what you say is not really important as long as you identify yourself as a constituent, identify the issue, and tell them how you want them to vote. Their offices tally the calls for and against.
